It’s hard to believe it was only a little over a year ago that I photographed this little guy’s parents as they awaited his arrival. Just like their outdoor maternity session in Grapevine we enjoyed some wonderfully mild weather for this lifestyle portrait session celebrating his new status as a one year old. A big part of this session revolved around practicing his new “long-distance” walking skills. Zooming away from Mama (then cuddles from Mama, of course), exploring nature, and just overall being a bundle of energy, I think we successfully captured a little part of his personality at one. The Colleyville Nature Center provided some nice even trails for the little speedster to show off.

He looks like he wants his Mama, doesn’t he? Just after I took this photo he shot right past her, ignoring her outstretched hand and seeming very proud of himself. I think he has a bit of mischief behind that sweet face, don’t you?

Along with an ever-improving mastery of walking he’s also daily adding words to his vocabulary. As we headed back to the parking lot he saw ducks and started saying, “duck!” (We got some quack quacks thrown in for good measure.) I think it even may have been the first time he said the word duck. I love how new and exciting things are for little kids and I love even more when I get to save small pieces of those experiences for their parents.
